Standard, double, large, and MREC banner specs

The following standard, double, large, and medium rectangle (MREC) banner specifications are for ads on Apple News.

  • Animated banners (animated GIFs) can loop only three times, and the total animation can’t exceed 15 seconds. Repetitive or rapid flashing, blinking in excess, or visually stressful animations aren’t allowed.
  • Assets may only be produced as JPEG, GIF, or PNG. Specifications are optimized for all supported devices. For standard, double, and large banners, only one asset is needed for all supported iPhone devices, and one for all supported Mac and iPad devices.

Standard banner specifications

For iPhone, the portrait asset requirements are 1242 x 166 pixels. The content safe area is 1062 x 150 pixels. There is a 90 pixel margin between the ad and the edge of the device and an 8 pixel margin to the top of the content safe area. The maximum file size is 500 KB. For iPad and Mac, the portrait and landscape asset requirements are 1536 x 132 pixels. The maximum file size is 500 KB.

Double banner specifications

For iPhone, the portrait asset requirements are 1242 x 332 pixels. The content safe area is 1062 x 300 pixels. There is a 90 pixel margin between the ad and the edge of the device and a 816 pixel margin to the top of the content safe area. The maximum file size is 500 KB.
For iPad and Mac, the portrait and landscape asset requirements are 1536 x 264 pixels. The maximum file size is 500 KB.

Large banner specifications

For iPhone, the portrait asset requirements are 1242 x 699 pixels. The maximum file size is 500 KB. For iPad and Mac, the portrait and landscape asset requirements are 1536 x 864 pixels. The maximum file size is 500 KB.

Medium rectangle (MREC) banner specifications

For iPhone, the portrait asset requirements are 900 x 750 pixels. The maximum file size is 500 KB. For iPad and Mac, the portrait and landscape asset requirements are 900 x 750 pixels. The maximum file size is 500 KB.
