How to get started.
Set your agency up to support campaigns on Apple Maps.
The first step is to sign up your agency with Apple Business. You’ll be asked to verify your company before you can share your agency details with clients to begin managing their campaigns. If you don’t already have an Apple Ads account, you’ll be prompted to set one up.
Make sure clients set up an
Apple Business organization.
Your clients will need to first claim their location (or locations) through Apple Business before running ads on Apple Maps. Clients can also update their listings with details including their category, hours, and contact information. The last step is for your clients to authorize you to manage ads on their behalf.

Questions? Answers.
Where will ads appear on Apple Maps?
An ad can appear at the top of relevant search results when users search, and at the top of a new Suggested Places experience in Maps before people search. The Suggested Places experience will display recommendations based on what’s trending nearby, the user’s recent searches, and more. Ads will be clearly marked to ensure transparency for Apple Maps users, and depending on the user query, ads may appear in one-image, three-image formats, or text only.
How does Apple Ads match my ad with customers using Maps?
We use signals such as the device’s approximate location or the view of the map, as well as information that the business provides about its location (such as hours, street address, and category). For ads displayed in search results, we also use the search query to help match people with relevant ads.
What’s the difference between booking advertising with Apple Business and booking with Apple Ads?
We offer two solutions tailored to different needs. Apple Ads gives agencies additional options to control how campaigns run on Apple Maps, while Apple Business provides a fully automated experience for advertisers. In Apple Ads, you can schedule when your ad displays, choose specific keywords and phrases to match an ad with, specify the location of the device that will receive your ad by region (ZIP code, city, or state) and distance from your business’s location, and create location groups to promote specific locations together. Apple Ads also includes options for pricing (CPM or CPT) and bid strategy (Maximize Engagements or Manage Bids).
Can I choose an ad placement?
Agencies using Apple Ads will have the option of choosing an individual ad placement (search home or search results), or both.
How can I access my clients’ accounts?
As an agency, you’ll need to first set up and verify your agency with Apple Business. Once verified, share your Organization ID with clients so that they can delegate their ad management to you. After your client has delegated management to your agency, you’re ready to set up your Apple Ads account and start creating campaigns.
Can I create groupings of locations to promote?
You can create location groups in Apple Ads to promote specific locations together. For example, if your client has locations across different areas, you can choose to group all the locations in the same city that you’d like to promote together. Or if you’re promoting a franchise model, you could group specific franchise locations together for advertising.
Can I localize my ad?
Yes. You can include additional languages for the promotional text in your ad. The language will be displayed based on the user’s device language.
What reporting metrics will be available for ads on Maps?
You’ll be able to see the number of impressions, taps on the ad, and taps on each action (Directions, Calls, Website, Photos, Share, and Get the App) on the place card. You’ll also be able to download reports that include performance grouped by location and campaign.
Can I choose to have my ad display on specific search terms?
In Apple Ads, you’ll have the option to specify which terms and categories you’d like your search results ad to display on. You’ll also be able to add negative terms in Apple Ads.
Can I use an API to run ads on Maps?
You’ll be able to use the new Apple Ads Platform API V1 to create and manage ads on Maps. This new API will be a completely rearchitected version of our existing Campaign Management API, designed to help you scale campaigns as Apple Ads continues to grow our advertising offerings. New open-source client libraries will be available for Swift, Python, Java, and Node.js as well. To help prepare for the update, see the Apple Ads Platform API Preview Release Notes.
What is the pricing model for ads on Maps?
In Apple Ads, pricing options will depend on your bid strategy. If you choose the Maximize Engagements bid strategy, you’ll use the cost-per-tap (CPT) pricing model. If you choose the Manage Bids strategy, you’ll have the option of CPT or cost-per-thousand-impressions (CPM) pricing models.
What are the costs associated with running ads?
You can choose your own budget, and you can start or stop campaigns at any time. You pay only when your intended action (tap or view of an ad) takes place. The price you pay is based on our dynamic auction-based pricing mechanism, which takes into account various factors such as relevance, bids, and more.
Are there any promotions available?
Yes. For a limited time, clients can earn 15% back in credits on monthly ad spend for a year. Promotional credits are automatically applied to the brand’s billing account. Eligibility limitations and terms apply. Up to $1,000 per month, per brand.
