Ads on Apple Maps and privacy

Privacy is at the center of everything we do. Apple Ads has been built from the ground up to respect privacy. Our advertising platform is designed to protect users’ information and give them control over how we use it for advertising.

Apple Ads doesn’t buy or share your personal information with other companies, and does not track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.

Users’ Apple Pay transactions, Health app data, and Home app data are not used by Apple Ads to deliver ads.

The Personalized Ads setting is not supported on Apple Maps, meaning you will only see ads based on contextual information during the course of a session such as your search terms, view of the map while you search, and a device’s approximate location.

Apple Ads doesn’t serve ads to any user whose Apple Account is registered to a minor under 13 years of age or set up as an educational Managed Apple Account. Nor do we collect, use, or disclose any information from them.

All ads on Apple Maps have an “Ad” mark and a distinguished place icon so customers can identify the ads as paid placements. They can tap this mark to see the information used to serve the ad.

How we connect customers and advertisers
on Maps.

Apple Ads empowers advertisers, while protecting individuals.

Where you go and the ads you see and interact with are not associated with your Apple Account. Personal data stays on your device, is not collected or stored by Apple Ads, and is not shared with third parties. Age and gender are not used to target ads on Maps.

To connect you with relevant businesses and services, we use in-session signals, but we never use information like your precise location or history of interactions with Maps. Instead we focus on contextual information such as search terms, a device's approximate location, or the area of the map on screen.

Information about the ads you view or tap is tied to a random identifier that rotates multiple times per hour. This means Apple can’t search for information about you based on an identifier linked to you or your device. Longer-lived identifiers are used for application performance, aggregate usage metrics, and to maintain the integrity of the service. These longer-lived identifiers are not attached to your Apple Account or other information that might identify you.
