Ad placement options

Understand where your ad can run on Maps

Apple Ads offers two ad placements to help you promote your business on Maps, right when customers are searching for somewhere to go. You can promote your business on one or both of these placements:

  • At the top of the Suggested Places list (search home)
  • Search results

Keep in mind that some types of businesses aren’t currently eligible to run ads on some placements due to our policies and restrictions, which may vary by country or region.

Ad placement details
and creation

Before you can create an ad in Apple Ads, you need to set up your organization, verify your business, and claim your locations in Apple Business. Once you’ve done that, you can create ads in Apple Ads.

Here’s some information about each ad placement available in Apple Ads:

At the top of the Suggested Places list (search home)

Search home ads let you reach customers before they search for something specific, with an ad that appears at the top of the Suggested Places list. This placement may help build awareness of your brand and reach a broad audience.

Search results

Examples of the three search results formats on iPhone. The first format is the 3-image format — the search query is “restaurants” and the ad displays three images related to the query. The second format is the 1-image format — the search query is “sporting goods” and the ad displays one image related to the query. The third format is text only — the search query is “bike shops” and the ad displays a directions button to the business.

Search results ads let you reach customers when they search for something specific with an ad in relevant search results. Your ad may appear in one of three formats (3-image, 1-image, or text only), depending on the type of business you have and the type of query the user entered.

For search results campaigns you can turn on Search Match to help automatically match your ad with potential customers. You also have the option to manually control your bids and keywords.
