Explore and visualize insights
Make informed decisions about your Apple Ads campaigns with robust analytics tools
Insights is a powerful data analytics engine that lets you look deeply into performance across your campaign groups, letting you evaluate and compare performance for all dimensions in your account — including every campaign, ad placement, and keyword.
- The Insights landing page offers a snapshot of overall performance for your selected campaign groups.
- The Insights report builder page provides predefined reports that help you quickly get started. Each report is pre-populated with common metrics and dimensions that you can edit and customize.
- Visualization options let you explore and analyze different data segments across your entire account. You can edit metrics, dimensions, and filters to see data at the granularity that works best for your goals.
How to find Insights
In the upper-right corner of your Campaigns dashboard, Ad Groups dashboard, Ads dashboard, or Keywords tab, click the Insights link.
Understanding the Insights landing page
The Insights landing page is designed to give you a high-level view of performance data from your selected campaign group over the last seven days. You have the ability to add or remove data from other campaign groups, as well as change the date range to better understand trends over time. The Insights landing page also stores all of your saved reports that have been shared publicly with you. This includes all of the reports that were migrated from Custom Report Builder. Sorting your reports by Last Opened will help you find the reports that you use the most.
When you’re ready to dive into data exploration and visualizations, click the Create Report button above the report table.
Understanding predefined reports
Predefined reports help you quickly get started with Insights. Each report automatically populates with a set of common metrics and dimensions, but you can always make changes to the configuration to best support your needs. There are two kinds of predefined reports: Performance and Advanced.
-
Performance
These reports include common views of your performance across various dimensions including: Campaign Groups, Campaigns, Ad Groups, Ads, Keywords, Search Terms, Ad Placements, and Country or Region. With these reports, you can view and compare data across your entire account, helping you gain a better understanding of what’s doing well and what might need more attention.
-
Advanced
These reports show aggregate data that can be helpful to your advertising efforts, but is not necessarily linked to any specific campaign. For example, the Impression Share reports can help you understand your competitiveness on search terms by country or region, including your impression share on a search term, your rank compared to other advertisers, and the search term’s popularity in the country or region.
Each predefined report is only a starting point. You have the ability to customize and configure the report to your liking by editing the metrics, dimensions, date range, and applying filters to simplify the data further. Note that certain reports, such as the Impression Share reports have some restrictions on dimensions that can’t be edited, such as the timezone.
If you’d like to save, save as, share, download or delete the report, click the Save button or the More button (three dots) in the upper-right corner.
View and manage existing reports
On the Insights landing page, you’ll see all the reports you’ve created, that have been shared with you, and any that you created using Custom Reports that were transferred to Insights. From the landing page you can:
Review report modifications
By default, reports on the Insights page are sorted in order of when they were last opened. You can also see and sort by report name, creation date, and by who created it.
Edit an existing report
If you created the report originally, you can make changes to it. Otherwise, changes or edits you make to it won’t be saved unless you save as your own version. To open a report, simply click the report name on the Insights landing page or click the button with the three dots in the Actions column.
Download a report
In the Actions column on the Insights landing page, click the download icon next to the report. You can download the report as an XLSX file.
More actions
In the Actions column on the Insights landing page, click the button with the three dots to share, save as, or delete a report. Reports are shared to campaign groups. Anyone with access to the campaign group will get access to the report. You can only delete reports that you own, and deleting them will permanently delete the report for you and remove access to anyone that belonged to a campaign group that you had shared it with.
Troubleshooting in Insights
Certain combinations of metrics and dimensions may cause issues with your report generation. When creating reports, keep in mind that:
- You can’t combine more than one Time dimension in a single report.
- All reports have an 24-month date range limit.
- For data to be readable, Impression Share, Search Popularity, and Rank measures must be used with Day, App, App ID, Country or Region, and Search Term dimensions.
- Predefined Impression Share reports can only display the last 12 weeks of data.
